As per the latest GST update, Compensation Cess on Luxury/Sin goods like Pan Masala and Cigarettes has been replaced with a 40% GST rate effective from 1 February 2026.
What has changed?
- Earlier: GST + Compensation Cess was applicable.
- Now: A flat 40% GST rate is applicable.
- No separate cess calculation is required.
