# What is Product grouping and how to create it on web?

**What is Product Grouping?**

**Product Grouping** is the process of linking a final product with the specific **raw materials** and quantities needed to make it. By grouping these items together, your system automatically tracks stock levels for both your **raw materials** and final products.

**When and Why it is required?**

Product Grouping is required whenever making or selling one item automatically changes the stock of other grouped items.

**Example:**

From Manufacturing side,

- A furniture manufacturer builds and sells a **Wooden Dining Table**. To produce one finished table, specific **raw materials** are consumed.
- Teak wood board
- Wooden legs
- Steel screws

In order to create product grouping for **Wooden dining table** , please follow the below steps:

**Step 1:** Click **products and services** \>\> Click on **groups** \>\> Click **Create group.**

**Step 2:** Search and select your **Main Finished Product** from the dropdown. (If it’s a new item, click **+ Add New Product** to create it on the spot).

**Step 3:** Mention the **product name and selling price** \>\> Click on **Add item to add the main product.**

**Step 4:** Once the main product is added, **select the sub products** which is required to make the main product \>\> Click on **next.**

**Step 5:** Once the products added, click **submit** to create a group.

**Step 6:** The **box symbol** shows that the **product has a group** , and you can **click and view the group.**
