# Error: HSN code is not valid for product, service while downloading the GSTR-1 JSON Report?

If the HSN Code which you have mentioned for the Product or Service is not correct, you will encounter this error message.

**If you continue downloading the file and upload the file in GST Portal, it will get not uploaded in the GST Portal.**

Therefore, before downloading the file kindly make changes to HSN Code for the items.

To make changes, please check the below shared steps:

**Step 1** : Go to **Products & Service section**.

**Step 2** : Enter the **Item name in search box**.

**Step 3** : Click on **Edit**.

**Step 4** : Make **changes to the HSN Code** \>\> Click on **Update Item**.

**Note** : You can also click on the link provided below the HSN Code column and verify.

After making changes, refresh the page and proceed with downloading the Report.
