# Encountering Error message: Hello Swipe! I Need help with Error Message: Customer with this name and mobile/ GSTIN already exists. - /v2/customer/update

The error **“Customer with this name and mobile/GSTIN already exists”** means that you’re trying to add a new customer, but there’s **already a customer in the system with the same name and mobile and GST number.**

To fix this:

1. **Check for duplicates** : Look if the customer you’re trying to add is already in the system.

2. **Use different details:** If it’s a different customer, try using a different name or mobile number and GST number.

3. **Update existing customer:** If it’s the same customer, please edit their existing information instead of creating a new one.
